Callie

Callie is one of the 60+ dogs that were found locked away last winter in a hoarding situation outside of Asan, South Korea. Over the past several years the dogs were left to breed and their numbers grew into the hundreds. At least half of the dogs perished due to the horrific conditions they were forced to live in. Many died from illness, neglect, dog fights, and also from human consumption. The hoarders were reported to the city and slowly dogs are being pulled out and placed into the city shelter.

Callie and 23 other dogs were brought to the city shelter in January. This summer she was placed in a loving foster home in South Korea while she was treated for heartworm alongside her bff, Lev. Her immune system is weak right now & she’s getting all the TLC we can offer during this rough transition. Callie used to being surrounded by dogs so this solo dog life is new and stressful!

A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE Callie THINGS FROM her FOSTER family…

Callie is probably the sweetest lil muppet you’ll have the fortune of meeting! She is gentle and loving. She is playful, especially in the morning! She gets along great with dogs and cats and is good with kids if she can have some time to warm up to them. Callie loves to play peek-a-boo in blankets and nap on the couch during the day. She is sleeping in her crate every night and walks great on leash too!

A FEW THINGS Callie IS WORKING ON FROM Her FOSTER family…

Anxiety
Callie is an anxious lady and will cower, put her tail down, and hide if she is intimidated. She struggles being around/playful/comfortable with male presenting folx. We have some tips on how to grow a bond quickly and in a way where Callie will be the most comfortable.

Potty training
If she is let out first thing in the AM she will do her business, but she’s not above pooping and peeing inside. She seems comfortable doing it at times based on her previous living situation.

Commands
Callie is stubborn! She needs a family with time who can work on sitting, stay, etc. She’s smart as heck and needs a lot of patience and consistency to get training to stick.

Separation anxiety
Like a lot of “covid-19” dogs, Callie struggles with being left alone and panics (panting and barking) in her crate. We will support her forever family with training methods to help her feel more confident and independent.

THE IDEAL FAMILY FOR Callie WOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

- A quiet and low key household.

- A lot of patience and the eagerness to follow our training guidelines.

- Another gentle, friendly animal in the home (dog preferred) and/or access to other friendly dogs for play dates.

- Patience!
