Cookie ::ADOPTED::

Cookie was street pup in South Korea with his mom, dad, and brother. All of them had severe mange all over their bodies and were reported to city shelter. Unfortunately, his brother died from parvo just three days after being rescued. Their mange was treated and Cookie’s mom and dad were adopted. Cookie spent time in a loving foster home in South Korea and his foster family in Portland bonded with him immediately.

A few of our favorite Cookie things…

Cookie is as sweet as his name suggests! When he first arrived he was so nervous and shy (who can blame him after everything he has been through and being so little!) but with the help of his fluffy foster sister he soon allowed us to see his darling, playful personality!

He loves playing! In Cookie’s world toys are awesome but your hand under a blanket is even better, and wrestling with his canine companion is the absolute best! He is a perfect gentleman when his foster family takes him on walks - never pulling and always looking up at his foster mom for cues. His perfect manners on a leash make him a wonderful hiking buddy and his attentiveness on his handler makes us believe he would excel at agility.  Cookie is very observant, curious, and smart. It only takes a few repetitions for him to pick up new manners and he has even started learning some tricks!

We love his delightful disposition and charming inquisitiveness. His initial timidness is endearing and makes the moment that you have earned his trust that much sweeter.

A few things Cookie is working on…

Cookie might be shy at first, but once he has bonded with you, he wants to be wherever you are.  Which is so sweet, but is also triggering a bit of separation anxiety during those moments when he has to be left at home alone.  We are happy to report that his foster family is working with him and thankfully he is already showing signs of overcoming it.  We are confident that with consistent training he will be able to completely conquer this fear.

Cookie does not discriminate when it comes to toys - every type of toy is fair game, including your dirty socks!  This might not be such a bad thing though, maybe you just don’t leave dirty socks on the floor from now on?

He isn’t the biggest fan of loud noises or crossing thresholds (elevators are a bit scary), but with a little encouragement he finds his confidence and carries on - we love his determination to be brave!

Cookie is trained to use a pee-pad, which is wonderful, except sometimes the rug looks a little too much like the pee-pad.  He wasn’t so sure about going potty outside at first and required some ingenuity and patience from his foster family. In a short time he has already made huge strides and now regularly goes potty outside and rarely ever mistakes the rug for a pee-pad!
