Jooni adoptED
In February of this year, Jooni was discovered on the streets of Asan, South Korea in a school yard. He was found wearing a blank ID tag on a chain and was brought to the local, high kill pound to wait for his family. They never came.
A dear friend of ours from @bandforanimal took little Jooni home to foster in case his family showed up. She has a weak spot for terriers who look like Jooni and has a history of taking them home to foster. Jooni spent the rest of his time in South Korea at our rescue partner’s home. It turns out that he prefers cats over dogs so she made him a separate, dog-free area so he felt comfortable being his silly self. He has a lot of favorite snacks (his favorite word is ka-gga, meaning “snack”) and his favorite way to ask for them is by walking around on his hind legs.
Jooni has been settling in great at his Portland foster home (still doesn’t care for for dogs) and is ready to find a forever family who can provide him with lots snacks and cat friends!
From Jooni’s foster family…
Jooni came to us very calm and a little unsure. He has built his confidence over the past few weeks and loves to be around his people. Jooni is a buddy that will stay close to your side through thick and thin. He is fully house trained, we only had one incident in the house where he was marking his territory at the beginning and no issues since. Jooni is still working on his crate training but finds it to be a great place to take his meals and sleep through the night. Jooni spends a lot of time around our resident dog but doesn’t engage with her.
Jooni is very food motivated and LOVES radishes and watermelon as treats. He can be a bit stubborn around food and grumbles when it isn’t being delivered into his mouth at the speed he prefers. He walks well on a leash and has been working on recall with great success. He does not seem to be distracted easily and wants to be with his “pack”. Jooni does well on car rides and is happy to tag along on your outings. He will love to be in a house that is willing to take him on longer walks and hikes, while also allowing him time and to zoom around the house, snuggle with you, and nap throughout the day.
THE IDEAL FAMILY FOR Jooni WOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
A fenced backyard.
A home with a friendly cat.
Patience, time to train, consistency, and lots of love!

Jooni’s back, right leg sometimes skips/hops while walking. After a vet exam and x-rays in South Korea, it was determined that Jooni does not have a luxating patella. His hop seems to subside the more active he is. We recommend that a local vet evaluates him for a second opinion especially if it begins to cause him discomfort or mobility issues.
