Kevin ::ADOPTED::

Along with several of our rescued and incoming pups, Kevin and 60+ dogs were found locked away this winter in a hoarding situation outside of Asan, South Korea. Over the past several years the dogs were left to breed and their numbers grew into the hundreds. At least half of the dogs perished due to the horrific conditions they were forced to live in. Many died from illness, neglect, dog fights, and also from human consumption.

The hoarders were reported to the city and slowly dogs are being pulled out and placed into the city shelter. Kevin and 23 other dogs were brought to the city shelter in January. We pulled Kevin from the shelter and he bounced around a few Korean foster homes before making his way to Portland.

A few of our favorite Kevin things…

Under Kevin’s scruffy exterior is a sweet little boy who loves humans and other dogs alike.  Whether at home snuggled up next to his foster parents or strutting down the street looking for new friends, Kevin sweet disposition is on full display.

Kevin is great with other dogs and bonded quickly with his foster sister. He is a gentle playmate and loves wiggling around on his back and getting chased around the yard.

Even though he’s only 2, Kevin has a mellow side as well and will snooze away during quiet time when his foster parents are working. He doesn’t bark much and is very relaxed considering his troubled past.

Kevin is also very treat-motivated and easy to train. He picks things up quickly and is a very good listener when treats are involved. Kevin is also very courteous on leash walks.

We adore his side eye and winged ears. Kevin is one of a kind!

A few things Kevin is working on…

Kevin is still figuring out the difference between indoors and outdoors and sometimes has accidents around the house (particularly around house plants).

Kevin is working on his separation anxiety, but he will occasionally whimper when he is left alone or shut in his crate for the night.

Kevin gets very nervous in cars and occasionally car sick as well, especially on freeways. Having the window down half way helps.

Kevin could be a little territorial at first around his foster sister, but he is getting better with ‘place’ training.
