Leesi ::adoption pending::
from her foster family…
This beautiful girl just wants to be loved. She is sweet, smart, has the softest fur and is a great houseguest. She likes nothing better than to stare out the window (and talk to passing dogs!), then go on a nice long walk and end with a movie night curled up on the couch. Leesi would make an excellent hiking companion, but is also content with a good morning and evening walk. It is very important she routinely patrols the neighborhood for squirrels. She is house trained, crate trained, knows basic commands and rides well in the car. She has gotten along with (mainly ignored) her foster dog brother and not shown any destructive tendencies when left alone.
Khaleesi has a sensitivity to touch. Once she is comfortable, she seeks outs pets and love. However, she does not appreciate being touched by strangers and sometimes growls, will jump away, and possibly nip if she is scared. Her reaction is fear based and not aggressive.
She does seem to warm up faster to women than men. It’s very important Leesi’s forever home understand her need to go at her own pace and give her lots of space and time to decide she feels safe. This process could take weeks, but it’s very rewarding to see her come out of her shell. Due to her sensitivity to touch, a home with children is not recommended. A cat-free home is also necessary, but with proper introduction she could do well in a home with another dog.
Her ideal home would be with people who are patient and understand some of her fear based reactions. A yard for her to explore, even a small one, would be great, but a dedicated walking schedule would be most important. She can get very excited when she is on a leash and encounters other dogs, so she needs a home committed to further training.
