Lila ::adoptED::

In April of this year, our friends at @we.a.c.t rescued Lila and 20 other dogs from #김포개농장, a dog meat farm in Gimpo, South Korea. The farmer was adamant about keeping the dogs so he could be compensated from the government as his land was used for livestock. He claimed that he only bred and sold dogs to meat farms and auctions, but it was clear that he also slaughtered them onsite as evidenced by the many collars left behind, metal leashes still hanging in cages, and the large cooking pots just feet away from the dogs. The dogs were kept warm with heat lamps but lived in complete darkness and filth.

WeAct didn’t give up and the farm owner finally relinquished all of the dogs and signed a surrender agreement that he’ll never own dogs again. After removing the dogs and providing them emergency veterinary care, WeAct’s team took down all of the cages at the farm.

Lila was heartworm positive and, once treated, spent time opening up at several foster homes prior to her flight to Wildhearts. She takes a few days to warm up to new people and once you’re “in” she will be eager for love and affection. Another dog in the home has helped Lila adjust with each transition and she really enjoyed having young kids in the home to snuggle. She has quite the spunky, silly side and her foster family here in Portland has loved seeing her open up. We are obsessed with her llama looks and goofy grin!

A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE Lila THINGS FROM HER FOSTER FAMILY…

Lila is a spunky little girl who would enjoy the companion of another dog in the house. She loves the company of her dog foster sister who is a bit larger and definitely more dominant than her. Lila loves to play and to be chased and but most of all really enjoys being close to her humans and her foster sister. She shows no resource guarding with toys and food and takes cues from other dogs on how to behave.

Lila just wants to be loved and would do well in a home where someone is around more often than not. She loves to cuddle and would love to be around her person. Lila is a pro at napping (her favorite spot is under the couch) but also loves to zoom around in the yard a few times a day. Lila is a wonderful little pup and the more exposure she has to new people and environments, the more she will thrive!

A FEW THINGS Lila IS WORKING ON FROM HER FOSTER FAMILY…

Lila thinks cats are fun to chase and wants to play with them. She needs to continue working on her impulse control. A cat free home is ideal for Lila!

Car rides have been a struggle for Lila but she’s been getting more brave each day jumping in on her own.

Lila also does well on a leash but is very aware of all other animals and sounds. Her leash skills need work to help in moments where she’s distracted.

Lila does well in her crate once she is in there, but requires lots of treats and encouragement to finally go in.

She warms up to new people pretty quickly but is very timid and shy at first. She will approach new people with her ears back and stiff them but will then want to quickly return back to her person.
