Peggy ::ADOPTED::
Last fall little Peggy was found wandering around a local market in Asan, South Korea looking for food. Peggy was eager for help and finally someone reported her to the city pound. There they discovered that she was heartworm positive and treated it once they found Peggy a foster family. She’s heartworm negative now!
Peggy is such a love bug and could spend all day staring at you with her big, adoring eyes. We are obsessed with her silly personality and endless need for pets.
A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE Peggy THINGS FROM Her FOSTER family…
Peggy is the most affectionate, giving dog we've ever met! She loves attention and knows how to ask for it by nudging her head on your hand, showing her belly, or placing her paw on you with such a forlorn look. Her eyes sparkle and large ears perk up when she sees us and it melts our hearts. It's impressive how she can often stand on her two legs for a long duration, which she exhibits when she is extremely excited. Peggy isn't as interested in toys or other animals, but can coexist with them given time.
She loves long walks. When Peggy realizes it's walk time, she often trots in circles around the front door, then plumps her body down, signaling that she is ready for her harness. During walks, she is extremely curious and wants to absorb everything around her. She moves her legs quickly and swiftly alongside you, sometimes ahead, and very few times behind if she is uncertain.
Peggy is housetrained and crate trained, though she whines a bit in the beginning when being left alone. With consistent training, she has improved and decreased her whimpering, and often we'll find her in the crate by choice.
A FEW THINGS Peggy IS WORKING ON FROM Her FOSTER family…
Peggy is cautious around new people and animals, reluctant to approach or responds with a low growl. With treats and time, she acclimates well and can co-exist.
Once she acclimates and grows attached to an individual, we've noticed that she presents separation anxiety from that individual. She's been improving in crate training, but presents anxiety during walks or social gatherings when her “person” walks away from her. This can be resolved through consistent training to give her independence.
Peggy is a bit slow to catch on to basic commands. She aims to please and is very food motivated but still has some dots to connect regarding what we’d like from her.
THE IDEAL FAMILY FOR Peggy WOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
A home without:
Other animals or young children - While Peggy tolerates cats, dogs, and children she doesn’t particularly enjoy their company. A forever home where she will find the most joy is our goal!
A family who works from home post-pandemic and/or is able to bring Peggy along to work and outings.
Time to train Peggy and lots of patience!
