Robin ::ADOPTED::
In July of 2020 Robin was found abandoned outside of Asan, South Korea at a fishing supply shop in the woods. He and his two puppy siblings were reported and brought to the high-kill, city pound. His brother and sister quickly found homes but Robin was left behind to grow up in the pound all alone. He made the best of his situation and was always playful and goofy, keeping the staff entertained.
In October of last year an amazing family in South Korea stepped up and invited Robin into their home to be their foster pup. They adored Robin and showed him what it means to be a part of a family. Robin is finally here in Portland! We are a bit obsessed with Robin’s sweet demeanor and that chip in his ear.
A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE Robin THINGS FROM his FOSTER family…
Robin is the sweetest, most loving pup with the goofiest personality! He loves to lay his head on laps, chase his own tail, look out the window at squirrels, and chew on his chew toys (if they can withstand his chompers, that is)!
When Robin first arrived at our home he was very shy and cautious of his surroundings, but after about 2 days, his silly and affectionate self started to come out. Robin has been a wonderful playmate for our two pups - he picks up behavioral cues from other dogs really well and quickly adapted to the way our dogs like to play. He loves to go on walks, is terrific on his leash, and isn’t reactive to seeing other dogs at all. In fact, Robin is one of the quietest and most composed pups we have ever met! From our observation, he really only makes noise in the morning when he’s ready for breakfast.
Robin is crate trained; he happily jumps in his crate when it’s time to eat, and puts himself to bed in it when he’s tired! He’s extremely food-motivated and is a very quick learner. He usually comes when he’s called, although sometimes he needs to be coaxed inside with treats after he’s been playing outside. He has a stubborn streak and would benefit from recall work.
We have found that with a slow introduction, Robin gets along with every dog and person he meets - though he’s a little more nervous around male presenting people than women. Robin is also a TOTAL cuddle bug and loves to curl up for naps on the couch with his people!
A FEW THINGS Robin IS WORKING ON FROM his FOSTER family…
We’ve found that Robin gets very scared about getting into the car to go on drives. When he’s actually IN the car, he tends to just fall and stay asleep - but getting him inside the car without resistance has been a bit of a struggle.
Robin is a bit sound sensitive. On loud, busy streets he gets nervous and around yelling, running children he becomes overwhelmed. The more exposure he has to outings and social situations the more he will acclimate to them.
Robin is pretty good about going potty when he’s outside, but he has had a few accidents indoors. We’ve been working on treats and praise when he goes potty outside, and he’s getting better at it each day. Continued potty training is definitely something his forever-family will need to prioritize!
THE IDEAL FAMILY FOR Robin WOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
A fenced backyard.
A family with no young children as Robin needs continued oversight for potty training.
A friendly, well-trained dog in the home or regular dog playdates.
Lots of patience, time to train, consistency, and lots of love!
