Spencer ::ADOPTED::

In May of this year, Spencer’s mom (Doi) and dad (Mario) entered into a local market to find something to eat. They were both trapped and brought to the high-kill shelter in Asan, South Korea. Mama Doi was pregnant and gave birth to four puppies in the shelter. One of her pups, Spencer, was born with a malformed jaw and had no chance of finding a home there. We are obsessed with that tiny chin and how the splotch on his nose shrunk into a heart! After guaranteeing him a place here at Wildhearts our partner rescue @bandforanimal was able to find him a wonderful foster mom while we waited for him to get neutered and find a flight opportunity. We were expecting a very timid pup but little Spencer has so much pep in his step!

A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE Spencer THINGS FROM his FOSTER family…

Spencer has a whole lot of personality packed into his tiny, stubby-legged body! He is the perfect combination of goofy, sweet, and playful. It’s hard not to fall in love with him!

Spencer is a connoisseur of squeaky toys and can quickly be won over with a game or two of fetch. He never fails to make his foster family laugh with his silly puppy shenanigans, especially when he does his super zoomies and tries to get his 9 year old foster dog brother to play with him. Being around another dog gives Spencer a huge confidence boost, particularly when he is on walks where he is the most timid.

Spencer loves to cuddle with his people on the couch or in bed, but he sleeps soundly in his kennel at night. He actually loves his kennel so much that it can sometimes be a challenge to get him out of it in the morning because he is so comfortable!

A FEW THINGS Spencer IS WORKING ON FROM his FOSTER family…

Spencer is a bit evasive around new people and runs away when approached. With positive interactions, he is easily able to overcome these initial fears, especially when there are other animals (dogs or cats) around.

Spencer is very sensitive to loud or unexpected noises, particularly when he is outside. Going on walks is Spencer’s biggest challenge, especially if he is anywhere near moving cars (his biggest fear), but having a confident dog companion with him gives him a sense of security that has helped him gradually improve his leash walking skills.

It takes Spencer a bit of time to develop connections between words/signals and actions, so he will need an adopter who is patient but persistent when teaching him new commands.

THE IDEAL FAMILY FOR Spencer WOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

- The eagerness to train Spencer, give him exposure to new things/people, and work on his fears/sensitivity.

- A home with an older, confident pup.

- Patience!
