Sunny ::ADOPTED::

In October of 2020 Sunny was found abandoned in Gwangju-si, South Korea. He was full of energy and gratitude right away when brought to the city pound and he adored the staff. Sadly, Sunny had an adopter in Seattle who backed out at the last moment. We were more than happy to give this goofball a chance when so many had given up on him.

Sunny’s short stature is so darling and his sweet personality lights up a room. With the right family we know he will thrive! His foster family calls him Red Panda and he is very much adored wherever he goes.

A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE Sunny THINGS FROM His FOSTER family…

Sunny is so loving and eager to snuggle up with everyone he meets, including older kids. He loves belly rubs, snuggles and resting his head on your lap or feet.
Sunny is a lover; so sweet and adorable.

He sleeps great in his crate as well as hangs there during the day or when we are out running errands, just a few barks or whines, but then settles in. He is learning “place” training and is also working on pausing at thresholds. He is especially good about waiting in his crate until we tell him to come out. He's been quick to learn sit and loves relaxing near you in the evenings. He loves his chewbone, kong, and is very food motivated!

A FEW THINGS Sunny IS WORKING ON FROM His FOSTER family…

Sunny is working on walking on leash. When he first arrived he pulled and/or sniffed constantly. It wasn’t a pleasant experience! But with a training slip lead we have practiced a ton and he is getting better every day. Although if he sees a cat or squirrel he really wants to chase it. He's still working on “here” and “place”, and with treats + encouragement he is making progress.

Sunny has been known to mark on things and requires a close, watchful eye. He has lifted his leg and peed just a few times in our house, but mostly has the outdoor potty thing down.

Occasionally something outside will catch his attention, like a squirrel, and he spins in circles wanting to chase it. He also would prefer to sit at the door and bark at people passing by, but is easily redirected, especially when he is at his “place” spot.

When our 12 year old plays with him he starts gently play-biting and we are working on this. Sunny is obsessed with our outdoor chickens and not in a positive way. His prey drive is on the higher end and he needs to work on his impulse control more. We haven't had luck introducing him to our cat, he barks and wants to play (we think) but she isn't having it.

THE IDEAL FAMILY FOR Sunny WOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

  • An active, social lifestyle (this guy is always on the move and needs to be exposed to a lot of new things!).

  • A fenced backyard.

  • Another small/medium sized, already trained, & friendly dog for Sunny to learn from or no other animals in the home (including backyard chickens).

  • An adult only home as Sunny requires a lot of oversight and training.

  • Lots and lots of patience, time to train, consistency, and lots of love!
