Suzy
In the fall of 2020 @we.a.c.t received a tip about a dog meat farm in Chuncheon, South Korea and they were requested to investigate. They visited the site and were shocked to find that it was an illegal puppy mill that had been in business for over 10 years. The man who ran the operation was a fraud who faked the conditions on his blog and YouTube channel. In reality, his business was a horrendous, outdoor breeding farm full with 38 purebred dogs (puppies, males, and pregnant dogs) who were all sick and many with skin infections. There was no clean water or fresh food for them in sight or protection from the elements.
Suzy was found with her litter of 5 puppies and she was hospitalized with a severe case of pneumonia. She still managed to keep that tail wagging even when sick. Once Suzy recovered she stayed with an amazing foster family in South Korea prior to her flight to Seattle. She’s living her best life here in Portland and ready to find her forever family!
A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE Suzy THINGS FROM Her FOSTER Mom…
Suzy is the ultimate cuddle bug. If there's an empty spot on your lap she'll rush over to fill it and fall asleep next to you. She loves to be close! She's very playful and loves her foster kitty and pup siblings. We've played in larger dog groups as well and she can hold her own with the big dogs just as well as the littles. Suzy’s very secure and doesn't seem to have much separation anxiety. She also barely barks which is a welcome change to my two Puggle howlers! Suzy is crate trained but also very reliable when left in the house (no chewing, scratching, barking behaviors when left alone for short periods). She is curious about cats but doesn't chase. My cat has grown up around dogs and doesn't mind a curious pup but this could be different if you have a territorial and nervous cat. Suzy is very smart and bonded with me instantly. I haven't introduced her to a single person she didn't like. She's great with kids as well. Just an all around happy, sweet girl!
A FEW THINGS Suzy IS WORKING ON FROM her FOSTER Mom…
Suzy could definitely use some consistent work on her potty training. We've been working on this but she has a ways to go. She would do best with a yard that has easy access because she needs breaks frequently. She knows that outside means potty time but just hasn't figured out how to indicate for breaks yet. Suzy also needs work on walks. She's nervous with loud sounds but very treat motivated and will catch on quickly with consistent training.
THE IDEAL FAMILY FOR Suzy WOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
A family who can have her around at work or works from home. She's a perfect office dog.
Another playful, friendly, and already trained animal in the home.
Patience, time to train, consistency, and lots of love!
