Taffy ::adoptED::

In April of this year Taffy was found wandering the streets near Asan, South Korea and was reported to the city pound by the local fire department. She spent the next three months at the high kill pound with no prospects of an adopter. Taffy became a favorite at the pound and was very eager for love & affection from humans as well as dogs. Sadly, due to her quirky appearance and lack of interest she was put on the pound’s euthanasia list. We knew this gal belonged in Portland and asked if we could help.

Towards the end of July Taffy was pulled from the pound and placed with an amazing foster family in South Korea once we added her to our flight list. She trusted her fosters right away and they too adored Taffy’s many goofy features + her silly personality. She’s a bit of a wild child and needs continued socializing & impulse control training but Taffy is very eager to learn from and impress her humans. We are obsessed with her toothy smile and confidence! See her foster journey in South Korea here.

A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE Taffy THINGS FROM her FOSTER FAMILY…

There is so much to love about this little girl! She is cute and sweet and playful and funny. She has a nice medium/high activity level, but after a good walk and a bit of play time she can relax and be calm. Taffy adores her toys and needs a variety to keep her interested. She will try to engage with any human or dog to play first, but will then adorably settle on throwing a toy to herself if need be. Taffy is housetrained and does well with grooming & touch.

She’s a great eater and very treat motivated, which will be helpful with training. She sleeps quietly in her crate all night, though would likely prefer sleeping on the bed with her people. Couches are the absolute best for napping and she enjoys a cuddle with her humans. She’s good in the car (we crate her in the back) and has enjoyed a few NW hikes, even with a bit of rain. This girl loves to go on long walks to sniff and explore! Taffy has gone on a family road trip and did great traveling & meeting new people.

A FEW THINGS Taffy IS WORKING ON FROM her FOSTER FAMILY…

Taffy can be a bit mouthy when playing and excited, so patient redirection is key. Also a home with small kids is not ideal, as they could misread her exuberant play style and mouthiness. She loves to play and is slowly learning polite play rules with other dogs, as well as how to read signals that playtime is over or unwanted. She has been to doggie daycare a few times, and is definitely picking up these skills, but will need positive reinforcement to encourage these behaviors. She comes on a little strong at first! Taffy would benefit from continued training around impulse control and encouraging calmness/patience. She would do great with another playful dog that could continue to show her the ropes.

Overall she is just a delightful little thing and her forever family will be so lucky to have her!
