Geumi ::adoptED::
In August of 2020, the rescue group @we.a.c.t discovered Geumi’s mom (Tiki, the corgi) at an abandoned house in South Korea. Alongside Tiki they also found alive two male dogs; a corgi (Taka) and a malinois mix (Logan) who survived years of neglect and were left to starve & die alone. More dogs were found but had not survived. Their decaying bodies were left next to these helpless pups.
Tiki was very pregnant and they had assumed Taka, the other corgi found, was the dad. The owner had purchased Tiki and Taka to breed them but when Tiki gave birth they quickly realized that the dad was actually Logan (who lived on a 6ft chain for 5 years).
Tiki became a mother to 7 puppies surrounded by love. Her pups, once weaned, joined amazing foster families in Korea. Each puppy was named after a day of the week. Geumi’s given name is Friday, which is “geum-yoil” in Korean.
Tiki, Taka, and Logan have all found homes and the puppies are on their journey to find families now that they are old enough. Geumi is such a short stack full of love and his brother Tony was recently adopted here in Portland! Learn more about the little dude below…
A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE Geumi THINGS FROM his FOSTER family…
Geumi: AKA Friday, Shorty, Little Dog, Muffin Man, and Nugget is a loving, goofy, busy boy. He’s smart, playful and loves being the center of attention. He might be short on legs, but he’s big on personality. He loves wrestling with his 70lb foster sis, snoozing on the couch, chewing sticks, running laps around the yard, and playing Frisbee.
He’s quite the curious little dude: loves to watch out the window, jump after leaves blowing by on the sidewalk, and always wants to know what his foster parents and foster sis are up to at all times. He’s treat-driven, fairly easy to train and overall very chill as far as puppies go.
A FEW THINGS Geumi IS WORKING ON FROM his FOSTER family…
Geumi has a few puppy tendencies: can be a little mouthy as he teeths, has had a few accidents in the house but will benefit with some more potty training and consistency.
He’s currently working on leash skills and walking, but as made great strides (pun intended). Because Geumi’s such a social guy, it will be important for his forever family to work on separation anxiety prevention. He’ll also need a little treat-coaxing to go in his crate, but consistently sleeps through the night without whining.
THE IDEAL FAMILY FOR Geumi WOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
A fenced yard.
Another mellow, older, and already trained dog in the home or access to frequent doggy playdates.
Patience, time to train, consistency, and lots of love!
