Midge ::ADOPTED::
In September of 2020, Midge’s rescuer pulled her and 4 other dogs from a high kill shelter in Boseong-Gun, South Korea. The shelter was filthy and the dogs didn’t even have access to water. Most of them suffered from painful skin diseases. Midge was heartworm positive, had skin infections, an eye ulcer, and also was anemic when she was found.
Her rescuer provided vet care for the dogs and brought them to his small, no-kill shelter where they have been living ever since. After a lot of love and care, Midge is in great health and has a beautiful coat of hair! Her brother, Munch, recently joined the rescue and was adopted! There’s a post on our Instagram page where you can see them reunite for the first time since living at the shelter in South Korea.
A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE Midge THINGS FROM her FOSTER family…
Midge is an affectionate snuggle bug who loves showing off her belly and expressive ears. She’s been very gentle and docile from day one and without a single potty accident in the house.
She doesn’t fuss about her crate and sleeps well there through the entire night. Midge and her dog foster brother were pretty neutral with each other in the first few days but now we can see Midge following his lead and spooning him during naps. We know she’d thrive in a home with another animal. Midge is still figuring out how to “dog” and is slowly trying out toys and playing with her dog foster brother. She is happiest just being a part of the family and by your side.
She’s a great traveler in the car with her harness + seatbelt and is FINALLY walking on leash. Check out our Instagram stories to see her progress!
Midge is a bit submissive with being handled and picked up. She’ll lay on her back and expose her belly anytime she’s unsure of the situation. The more Midge trusts a person the more she’s instead excited to be picked up and eager for affection. That being said, she’s very easy to handle even when nervous.
A FEW THINGS Midge IS WORKING ON FROM her FOSTER family…
Midge’s first successful walk on leash was during the foster period. Normally she’d plop her butt down and not move an inch with the leash on. Walks have drastically improved, but still need some work.
Midge is pretty nervous around new people and submits on her back when unsure. It will take time for her to warm up to a new family. She was very afraid of us and everything surrounding her for almost the first full week.
She’s not very food motivated but with trying out different foods and snacks it will be easier to start working on basic training.
Midge gets nervous when someone from home leaves. She will look out the window and worry. Working on preventing separation anxiety early will be very important for her forever family.
THE IDEAL FAMILY FOR Midge WOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
A home in a quiet neighborhood and a fenced yard.
Another small, friendly, and already trained dog in the home who can be her companion and guide.
Patience, time to train, consistency, and lots of love!
